doing makeup but it's vfx
i'm very bad at makeup but luckily i do know after effects.
i wanted to see if i could make makeup out of vfx instead, so naturally i spent way too long tracking my eyelid in mocha pro. once i finally got the tracking working, it was mostly masking, compositing, and trying to make the makeup look like actual water reflecting across my eyelid.
the hardest part was honestly just keeping my eye still. turns out i twitch my eyelids A LOT even when i'm actively trying not to. extremely helpful when you're trying to track something frame by frame.
but honestly... i'm not mad at it. i think the result is pretty cool, and there's definitely a lot more i want to explore with this whole fake makeup / vfx makeup thing.
is this a practical replacement for learning how to do makeup? absolutely not.
was spending hours tracking my eyelid instead more fun? unfortunately yes.
we shall see how the interwebs feels about it.
