free the pea!
🫛 i turned 26 this weekend :) this little animation edit is my bday post.
25 years later, i finally learned the pea was never the problem.
the pea was my unfiltered, unflattened, mildly feral creativity. for years i tried to suppress the pea. flatten the pea. put the pea in business casual. teach the pea about personal branding. tell the pea there simply wasn’t a viable career path for someone of its… disposition.
i think a lot of us leave school and immediately start putting our weird little peas through corporate reprogramming because we would, ideally, like to make rent. and fair enough! the entertainment industry has approximately 3.5 creative jobs available and 900,000 people fighting to get them.
but this summer, i decided to stop bullying my pea.
i watered the pea. i fed the pea. i let the pea roam freely around the house. i stopped asking the pea to explain its five-year plan.
and honestly? i’ve never felt more like myself.
maybe i’ll get paid to make weird little things someday. maybe i won’t. either way, the pea is back and frankly i think she has a lot to say.
happy birthday to me. free the pea 🫛
built entirely in after effects and photoshop!
