prosecco & puppies!

i was fortunate enough to be invited to shoot at a Prosecco & Puppies event with New England Puppy Rescue! the photos and videos were all quite easy to capture the cuteness, but i really wanted to play with the three dogs in their logo and make a cute little animation to open the recap reel that matched their style.

when i first started editing, i knew i didn't want to just drop the logo on screen and move on. the event itself felt playful and welcoming, so i wanted the opening to feel like it belonged in the same world. i started building a small brunch scene inspired by the event, complete with pastries, flowers, champagne, and a sign for the dogs to pop up behind.
the funny thing about motion design is that sometimes the smallest movements end up taking the longest to figure out. i spent an embarrassing amount of time making pastries wiggle, glasses float, and hearts pulse just enough to feel alive without becoming distracting. every time i thought i was done, i'd notice that one croissant was moving a little too much or that all three dogs were bobbing in perfect sync.
because the logo illustrations weren't designed to be animated, i had to keep things simple. instead of trying to force them into full character animation, i focused on timing and personality. the dogs pop up one at a time, settle into place, and gently bob while the brunch table quietly moves around them. it ended up feeling a lot closer to the charm of the original logo than anything more complicated would have.
one of my favorite parts of the process was building the little world before the footage even starts. it's only a few seconds long, but those few seconds help set the tone for everything that follows. before the real puppies take over the screen, their illustrated counterparts get a chance to welcome everyone in.
sometimes the best part of a project isn't the final effect or transition. it's spending way too much time making a cartoon croissant feel like it has a little
personality.
